Death and the Seven Deadly Sins

7. Re-Presentation

The miniatures have now been wakened from their long sleep. On the occasion of the opening of the Berlin Film Museum at Potsdamer Platz in the year 2000, new molds were done from the original bronze figures, and a set of copies of the Death and the Seven Deadly Sins is shown there as one of the exhibits in the permanent exhibition. However, the self-contained figure ensemble is presented here in an isolated arrangement.

The work Death and the Seven Deadly Sins uniquely joins film history and arts. Of all high-quality stage props from the film Metropolis, this work alone by Walter Schulze-Mittendorff has survived in the original. This is what makes the figure group a unique work of art and as it turns out, it is Walter Schulze Mittendorff's masterpiece. It thereby lends itself to becoming an exquisite collector's item.
